Immigration Crisis, Prophesied Border Bedlam
It has been called “the most severe border crisis the United States has experienced in decades,”[1] and “the worst border crisis in American history.”[2]
The number one issue in America, a southern border surge of thousands of migrants from dozens of countries,[3] is one of the most powerful tools globalists have ever devised to establish the borderless one-world government prophesied for the biblical last days (Revelation 13:7).
By Rick Brinegar
The Globalist Open Border Agenda
Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, 13 million undocumented immigrants have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border according to a Center for Immigration Studies estimate.[4] As Americans, we understand why people from less fortunate countries would want to come to the United States. After all, it is still the land of opportunity. However, is it prudent or even compassionate to open our borders to everyone regardless of their legal status? What is going on in the minds of new-world-order socialists, psychological manipulators who are creating this crisis on the U.S. southern border? Students of Bible prophecy understand that the open border migrant surge is one of the most effective tools which globalists have yet devised to break down American society from within and usher in their planned one-world government. This is the globalists’ goal, the removal of national borders and the creation of a world government controlled by what American foreign policy analyst Strobe Talbott called, “a single global authority.” According to Talbott, nationhood will become obsolete.[5] Columnist Michael Lind has exposed a more near-term political motivation for relaxing a nation’s borders.
Intentional ‘Parole’ Policy: Import Better Voters
A provision of U.S. immigration policy has been corrupted by the Biden administration to intentionally implement an open border policy. In “Our Open Border Policy Is Not an Accident” in Tablet Magazine, Michael Lind explains, under the “parole” provision of U.S. immigration policy, the federal government can grant parole or legal residence and work permits to a small number of refugees and other foreign nationals. Trump has said during his campaign to return to the White House that he would end the “outrageous abuse of parole.”[6] In contrast, according to Lind, 2.3 million of the millions who have crossed the U.S. border over the last three years of the Biden administration have been given Notices to Appear (NTAs) before an immigration court. This “parole” procedure allows them to stay in the U.S. in a “twilight status” for years before a court date. Lind asserts that the Democratic Party is an alliance of interests threatened with long-term decline. In other words, they are the party of the “downtrodden.” According to Lind, Democrats hope that they can reverse the unpopularity of their offerings among U.S.-born Americans by importing masses of new voters. By refusing to enforce existing immigration laws and preventing states from securing their borders, Democrats hope to compensate for the loss of voters that Democratic policies are alienating. Lind writes that the new strategy is, “If American voters don’t like what you are offering, import better voters.”[7]
Registering Illegal Immigrants to Vote?
The Secretary of State of Mississippi has claimed that a Biden administration executive order is “attempting to register” undocumented immigrants to vote. Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson wrote a letter in March 2024 asking Attorney General Merrick Garland to stop enforcing Executive Order No. 14019, claiming that it seeks to “turn the Department of Justice agencies from their historical missions of law enforcement to voter registration and get out the vote operations.” The executive order was signed by President Biden in 2021 and was touted as an attempt to combat racial discrimination and “protect the right to vote.” Watson was shocked that the Biden administration would “expend tax dollars and vital law enforcement resources” on a program “that risks bloating state voter rolls with ineligible and non-citizen voters” during a time when millions of undocumented immigrants have crossed the southern border.”[8] As voter rolls expand, crime statistics are also on the rise.
Migrant Crime Wave Sweeps Sanctuary Cities
Judicial Watch has disclosed a startling statistic regarding the status of immigration enforcement. The Biden administration has failed to deport millions of migrants released into the country by the DHS who are pending removal proceedings. The Department of Homeland Security failed to deport 99.7% of the 2.1 million undocumented immigrants it released into the U.S. between January 20, 2021, and March 31, 2023.[9] Of these who evaded deportation, how many went on to commit other illegal violations? Breitbart reported in January 2024 that sanctuary cities were experiencing a crime wave from migrants who had illegally crossed the border between ports of entry.[10] In general, the term “sanctuary cities,” according to The Economist, refers to areas “that protect undocumented immigrants from deportation by limiting cooperation with federal immigration authorities.”[11] Police reported that the sanctuary cities of Chicago and New York City had been particularly hard hit by crime increases related to relocated migrants.[12] A candidate for New York’s 3rd Congressional District, vacated by the expulsion of Republican Rep. George Santos in December, expressed her concerns for safety as it relates to the illegal immigration issue. Republican candidate Mazi Melesa Pilip asserted that voters in New York’s 3rd Congressional District “are not happy” with President Biden’s open border policies. She noted in an interview with The Federalist, how the immigration crisis is the number one issue among the district’s residents. “When you have hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, illegal drugs making their way from the border to here,” that is a “big concern” for families, Pilip said. “A lot of families want to raise their children in a safe environment.”[13] The Biden administration seemed to confirm a criminal migrant problem later in March when it urged sanctuary cities to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to deport criminal illegal migrants. This followed several high-profile murders allegedly committed by undocumented immigrants, including the killing of 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley by an illegal Venezuelan immigrant.[14]
Killer Entered U.S. Illegally, Paroled Under Biden Policies
The murderer of a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student, Laken Riley, has been confirmed as suspect Jose Ibarra. Ibarra is an illegal Venezuelan immigrant who was released prior to the murder under Biden administration policies. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed on Feb. 25, 2024, that Ibarra was arrested by Customs and Border Protection agents on Sept. 8, 2022, after he unlawfully entered the U.S., but was “paroled and released for further processing.”[15]
FBI Warns ‘Dangerous Individuals’ Coming Across Border
FBI Director Chris Wray told a Senate panel on Feb. 11, 2024, that “dangerous individuals” have entered the United States illegally at the southern border. Wray issued the warning at the annual “Worldwide Threats” congressional hearings at which a panel of the six intelligence chiefs of U.S. intelligence agencies testified.[16] Families today are endangered largely because of a sinister decades-old United Nations migration agenda.
Border Crisis Origins, Global Compact on Migration
At the heart of the immigration border disaster is the United States’ compliance with the provisions of the Global Compact on Migration. The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018. The United States did not take part in the agreement, which was touted to promote “safe, orderly, and humane migration … ”[17] Early in December 2017, Rex W. Tillerson, Secretary of State for the Trump administration, announced that “the United States had decided to end participation in the U.N. process to develop a Global Compact on Migration (GCM).” He listed various problems with the document including its commitment to “strengthening global governance,” and that it contained several policy goals which would undermine the sovereign right of the United States to enforce our immigration laws and secure our borders.[18] However, in 2021, the Joe Biden administration began to retroactively support the nonbinding Global Compact on Migration and began participating in its implementation.[19] A former Panama border official has corroborated the U.N.’s involvement in the border crisis.
UN Behind ‘Strategically Engineered Migration’
In February 2024, Mike Miller of RedState confirmed United Nations’ participation in the current border crisis in “Is the UN Behind the Illegal Alien Invasion of America? Former Panama Border Chief Says Yes.” According to Miller, Oriel Ortega, the former director of Panama’s National Border Service, says it is the United Nations’ migration agenda that is behind the chaos along the southern border, and it is the U.N.’s NGOs’ (non-governmental organizations) partners who are intentionally making the crisis worse.
In the same RedState article, Miller quotes Joseph Humire, the executive director of the Center for a Secure Free Society, as telling the Epoch Times, “This isn’t a conspiracy theory,” adding that the “invasion” at the U.S. southern border is “strategically engineered migration.”[20] Today America is well on the way to helping the United Nations achieve its goals of evening out the inequalities among countries, wealth redistribution, borderless migration and global socialism. The distinction between secure border nationalism and open border globalist policies has been dramatically illustrated recently in Texas.
‘Take Our Border Back Convoy’ Rolls South
At the beginning of February 2024, a long convoy of truckers demanding a change in U.S. border policy headed south from Houston on the way to the small border town of Eagle Pass, Texas. They were protesting that the federal government has been making it harder for Texas to protect its border while making it easier for migrants to illegally enter the United States. Organizers said the participants planned to focus on peaceful protest and prayer.[21] There has been a standoff at the Eagle Pass destination between federal and Texas authorities over border control.
Texas-Federal Government Standoff at Eagle Pass
There has been a tense border standoff in Eagle Pass between Texas and the federal government. When President Biden took office in 2021 and began canceling some of former President Trump’s border control policies, Texas Governor Greg Abbott launched an effort that put the state on a collision course with the federal government over immigration enforcement. Governor Abbott had convinced state lawmakers to spend more than $10 billion over the last three years to deter hundreds of thousands of migrants from crossing the Rio Grande into Texas. In January 2024, Governor Abbott signed an emergency declaration to close Shelby Park in Eagle Pass along the Rio Grande River which forms the border between the United States and Mexico. The Texas National Guard blocked U.S. Border Patrol agents from patrolling the area which the Border Patrol had been using to hold migrants.[22]
Operation Lone Star
Since 2021, Governor Abbott’s Operation Lone Star has dispatched state troopers and National Guard members along the 1,200-mile Texas-Mexico border, authorized state police to arrest migrants on suspicion of trespassing, lined the river at Shelby Park with shipping containers, deployed 70,000 rolls of concertina wire along the river and constructed about a dozen miles of border walls along different parts of the border.
In all, Operation Lone Star has cost about $1.5 billion.[23] Governor Abbott has proposed even more resources.
Unique Standoff at Eagle Pass, Lawmakers Back Texas
In February 2024, Governor Abbott held a press conference at the center of the standoff with the Biden administration at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, and pledged even more resources to counter the rise in illegal border crossings. Late last year, the Texas Legislature passed a bill, which Abbott signed and is scheduled to take effect in March, which allows police to arrest people on state charges who are suspected of illegally crossing the Texas-Mexico border. The American Civil Liberties Union and other groups have filed lawsuits aimed at overturning the new law. Texas has also filed several lawsuits opposing the Biden administration’s immigration policies.[24] Republican legislators in more than a dozen states are supporting efforts by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to reinforce the U.S. southern border while the Biden administration strives to destroy it. At least 26 GOP attorneys general and Republican governors in 25 states have supported Abbott’s plans to limit the Biden administration’s open border. The border standoff seems to be unique in American history. An immigration attorney and law professor at Ohio State University, César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández, remarked, “I don’t know of any instances in which federal law enforcement officers have faced off against state police or troops because of a disagreement over immigration policy.”[25]
Eagle Pass Press Conference
Former President Trump and Texas Governor Abbott spoke in Eagle Pass on Feb. 29, 2024. Trump faulted the Biden administration for their current immigration policies and Governor Abbott charged that President Biden visited to see a “sanitized” version of the border. Trump’s campaign called Biden’s plan to visit the border a sign that the president is on the defensive over immigration. Trump’s campaign Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Biden was responsible for the “worst immigration crisis in history.” Abbott announced the construction of a Forward Operating Base that will house up to 1,800 Texas National Guard soldiers to respond to the open border chaos created by the Biden administration.[26] And the border catastrophe gets even worse.
Border Crisis Worsens
Kristin Tate, contributing journalist for Sky News Australia, warns that Americans are “watching the destruction” of their country as the border crisis worsens. “Thank God for Texas Governor Greg Abbott for holding the line and doing the right thing, doing what the federal government is supposed to be doing,” Ms. Tate said. “Not only is the federal government not doing what they’re supposed to be doing, they’re preventing Texas from doing what’s supposed to be done.”[27]
Three Reasons Migrants Flood Open Border
According to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), President Biden has made three decisions which have caused the border crisis to explode. When President Biden took office, he immediately halted construction of the border wall, reinstated the disastrous policy of “catch and release” and ended the incredibly successful “remain in Mexico” agreement. According to Senator Cruz, the Biden administration took the lowest rate of illegal immigration in U.S. history and caused it to explode. “We now have the highest rate in history,” Cruz said, “9.6 million illegal immigrants have come into this country. He wants it. It’s deliberate. And he could fix it tomorrow if he reversed those three decisions. He’s not willing to.”[28]
Senator Chris Murphy Admits ‘The Border Never Closes’
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has admitted that the U.S. southern border “never closes.” At a press briefing with other Republicans, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) quoted one of the new bipartisan border security bill’s supporters to bolster the case of the opposition. “Chris Murphy was very candid,” Texas Senator Ted Cruz said during the Republican press conference. “You know, they say in Washington a gaffe is when a politician accidentally tells the truth. Well, there you go, Chris Murphy: ‘the border never closes’ the Democrats’ opening position is, ‘We will not close the border.’” Senator Murphy later explained, “Uh there’s $2 billion a day in trade that crosses the border. Our economy would die if we ‘closed the border.’ We should control the border (which our bill does), not close it.”[29]
Border Crisis Behind Closed Doors
The recently proposed bipartisan border control bill would allow up to 5,000 people a day to enter the U.S. before triggering any action. Senator Rand Paul spoke with Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” in early February about the current state of the U.S. border. Senator Paul asserted the whole border crisis is about power politics, saying the Democrats’ overall goal is about taking Texas. “They have been trying to take Texas for 20 years,” Senator Paul said, “The only way they take Texas is, ‘Let’s legalize a couple of million people who are here illegally and let them vote.’” According to Senator Paul, current immigration law says the president “may” allow migrants asylum. The proposed bill sounds to Paul like the first four or five thousand per month get in free, that is, “You don’t have to do anything about [controlling] the first 1.8 million migrants per year.”[30]
House Impeaches Mayorkas to ‘Restore Rule of Law’
The U.S. House of Representatives voted to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday, Feb.13, 2024. It was a historic vote because it was the first time a Cabinet secretary had been impeached in almost 150 years.[31] Representative John Joyce (R-Penn.) told The Daily Signal that, “ … Secretary Mayorkas has allowed more than 10 million illegal immigrants to enter our nation under his watch.”[32] The vote came a week after the first attempt failed. Two articles were approved by the House. One article accused Mayorkas of refusing to comply with federal immigration laws and another accused him of violating public trust. But according to the Associated Press, the impeachment trial will almost certainly die in the Senate which must cast the deciding vote to remove officials under the Constitution.[33] Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) asserted that the Senate must hold the Mayorkas impeachment trial because it would be unprecedented for the Senate to dismiss the impeachment charges the House has leveled against the Secretary. Senator Kennedy charges that Secretary Mayorkas has paroled millions of people illegally into the United States en masse and he has breached the public’s trust in two ways: by knowingly making false statements to Congress that the border is “secure,” that the Department of Homeland Security has “operational control” of the border and by “failing to comply with subpoenas issued by congressional committees seeking to exercise oversight over DHS activities.”[34]
Mayorkas and Our ‘Secure’ Border
Alejandro Mayorkas has consistently maintained that America’s southern border is either “closed” or “secure,” or that, “We are working day in and day out to enhance its security … ” However, here is what is happening. In 2023, the Border Patrol encountered 2,045,838 trying to illegally cross the southern border, more than five times the 400,651 encountered in fiscal 2020, before President Biden took office.[35]
Mayorkas Charges?
Senators will be sworn in as jurors for the Mayorkas impeachment trial but the chamber is expected to spend far less time on the charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas than when it gathered to bring charges against former President Trump, perhaps hardly any time at all. Mary Clare Jalonick of the Associated Press posts that Democrats claim the charges amount to a policy dispute, not the “high crimes and misdemeanors” which the Constitution specifies. “Still,” she writes, “there is a process that senators have to follow under the rules for impeachment, and all Democrats would likely have to stick together to dismiss the charges completely.”[36]
Cities at Breaking Point
Warner Todd Huston of Breitbart reports that many cities in California, Colorado and Maine are at a breaking point because of the influx of border crisis migrants. Denver, for example, has experienced the arrival of 40,000 migrants since 2022. Mayor Mike Johnston has instituted massive budget cuts to city services to legal residents to address the shortfall. City budgets are being stretched across the country as liberal cities race to shift money from police, firemen, libraries and every other city service to the feeding and housing of what Warner Todd Huston calls “Joe Biden’s illegals.”[37]
Border Crisis ‘Invasion’ Fuels Terrorism Fears
The fastest growing group among the unprecedented number of migrants arriving at the southern border is Chinese migrants. According to Jordan Boyd, writing for The Federalist, it is no longer a crisis but a full-fledged invasion, an invasion of a record-breaking number of migrants walking into our nation and being shipped by border agents to American cities “with little to no vetting.” The current border surge is not struggling migrants from unstable Latin American countries, as claimed by the Biden administration. Chinese migrants have become the fastest-growing people group to take advantage of the porous southern U.S. border.[38] The porous border has admitted a record number of watch-listed terrorists.
Record Influx of Terror-Watch-Listed Migrants
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents have arrested more undocumented immigrants whose names appeared on the terror watchlist in the last four months than in the previous four years combined. Border Patrol agents captured 59 undocumented immigrants on the terror watchlist nationwide in the last four months, compared to 30 between fiscal year 2017 and 2021, 98 in fiscal year 2022 and 172 in fiscal year 2023.[39]
Trump-Biden Showdown at the Border
In a historic visit to the southern border, President Biden visited Brownsville on the southern tip of Texas, and former President Trump went to Eagle Pass where the state is building a base camp for border operations. Although they were 300 miles apart, they scuffled at a distance over who was to blame for the nation’s broken immigration system. President Biden said he needs $20 billion to stem the tide of migration while former President Trump accused President Biden of allowing migrant crossings to go unchecked. Trump criticized how President Joe Biden is managing the border crisis, calling it a “Joe Biden invasion” and claiming he is “the worst president our country has ever had.” Governor Abbott delivered a 10-minute put-down of President Biden’s border policy, saying, “All Joe Biden had to do to secure the border was to keep in place what President Trump put in place … instead, what Joe Biden did was sign executive orders eliminating all the effective policies that President Trump put in place.”[40]
Supreme Court Halts Texas Immigration Law
A new more stringent Texas immigration law was due to take effect at the beginning of March 2024. SB4 would have given State officials authority to arrest migrants who cross into Texas illegally and to order them to either return to Mexico or serve jail time. However, the bill was blocked temporarily by the Supreme Court of the United States. The goal of Senate Bill 4 was to stop the tsunami of illegal entries into Texas at the southern border. A Texas District judge had ruled that the law violates the Constitution’s supremacy clause and conflicts with key provisions of federal immigration law.[41]
Arizona Governor Vetoes Border Control Bill
Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs has vetoed an Arizona border control bill. Approved by the Republican-controlled Legislature last month, the bill would have let local law enforcement arrest non-U.S. citizens who enter Arizona from anywhere but a lawful entrance point. The penalty for a violation would be a top-tier misdemeanor, or, for a second offense, a low-level felony. Governor Hobbs said the legislation raised constitutional concerns and was expected to lead to costly litigation. The bill’s sponsor charged that Hobbs was unleashing chaos in Arizona while perpetuating an open border crisis as President Biden’s accomplice.[42]
Every Town is a Border Town
U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) released a video and statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union Address. His rebuttal contained several striking accusations, including the charge of fomenting a “full blown national security crisis.”
“By far President Biden’s greatest betrayal of our citizens and our nation has been his calculated, catastrophic effort to throw open our country’s borders,” Hagerty said. He also claimed that the Mexican and Chinese international crime syndicates would take the opportunity to partner with President Biden. “Thanks to Joe Biden and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas,” Hagerty complained, “Now, every state is a border state. And every town is a border town.”[43]
A Nation Without Borders Loses its Identity
During a recent episode of The Ingraham Angle, Laura Ingraham and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy discussed the security measures at the Capitol contrasted with the lack of a robust barrier at the southern border. Vivek pointed out that this is due to a lack of political will, driven by the desire to import potential long-term Democratic voters. Vivek argued that a nation without borders is not a nation at all, emphasizing the need for a unified vision to address the issue.[44]
The Bible and Immigration Policy
Leviticus 19:33-34 is often offered as one of many Bible verses that seems to be welcoming to immigrants. “And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.”
Also consider Exodus 12:49: “One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.”
It would seem, according to Christian principles, that a nation has the right to a secure and orderly border and to vet those who want to cross it, while also recognizing the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable. The issue would then be how to address all these issues in the most biblical manner. According to James R. Edwards Jr. of the Center for Immigration Studies, “Obeying civil laws is the normative, biblical imperative for Christians,” and “National sovereignty is part of the authority God has delegated to civil authorities.” There are variations among nations concerning such things as the terms and conditions applied to immigrants which is the prerogative of each national body. In other words, each sovereign nation works out the details of its immigration policy and outsiders have no legitimate voice in that exercise of national sovereignty. Edwards writes that reformer John Calvin wrote about the sovereignty of the state and quotes him as saying,
“If they [civil authorities] ought to be the guardians and defenders of the laws, they should also overthrow the efforts of all whose offenses corrupt the disciplines of the laws … For it makes no difference whether it be a king or the lowest of the common folk who invades a foreign country in which he has no right and harries it as an enemy. All such must equally be considered as robbers and punished accordingly.”[45]
The Border Crisis Debate Continues
Democrats say Trump is now responsible for any border chaos. Republicans say that the Biden-backed immigration deal shows he is not serious. While conservatives may prioritize border security as an important immigration goal, liberals might view the path to legal status as more important. Meanwhile, increased illegal immigration brings increased crime as capital resources spent on migrants dwindle, jail populations swell, the health system is overburdened, schools struggle to cope, and law enforcement and the courts are overwhelmed. We are a nation of immigrants but until recently, the only way immigrants could enter the country was legally. Should we allow illegal immigration to proceed virtually unchecked? Unguarded borders and unenforced immigration laws are not the answers to the current chaos at America’s southern border.
