America’s Divine Destiny: Unveiling the Role of the U.S. in Biblical Prophecy
The article explores the United States’ role in biblical prophecy, specifically in relation to the book of Daniel. It argues that America is symbolized by the eagle in the prophecy, emerging from Great Britain (the lion) and playing a crucial role in the end times. The article connects various prophecies, such as the rise of a global government led by the Antichrist and the protection of Israel during the Great Tribulation, to America’s unique position. It suggests that the U.S. will resist the Antichrist’s world system and continue to defend Israel until Jesus’ Second Coming.

Many prophecy experts have argued the United States is not referenced in biblical prophecy. However, we have undeniable evidence the U.S. is indeed foretold in Scripture and that America is divinely appointed to play a crucial role in the end time.
THE PROPHECY
In Daniel 7:1-8, four beasts emerge from the sea. The first is a lion with eagle’s wings, and Daniel observes as the eagle’s wings are torn off the lion.
The second beast is a bear, and a voice commands it to “Arise, devour much flesh.”
The third beast is a leopard which has four heads and four wings like those of a fowl. Dominion is given to the leopard.
The fourth beast is a terrifying creature unlike anything Daniel had ever seen. It devours, shatters and tramples everything in its path. The most striking feature of this beast is its 10 horns.
What do These Beasts Represent?
This prophecy is presented in symbolic language, but the symbols are clearly explained. In Daniel 7:23, it says, “ … The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth … ”
Therefore, we don’t have to speculate. The passage plainly tells us that these four beasts represent four kingdoms or nations that will exist on the Earth.
When will These Nations Exist?
The Bible foretells a time when human governments will come to an end and God will establish His Kingdom on Earth. Daniel 7:9 describes this moment: “I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit … ”
Before God’s Kingdom is set up, the Bible also prophesies a world government will rise to power, led by a powerful leader for a brief period. This ruler is known as “the beast” or “the Antichrist.” When Jesus returns to establish His Kingdom on Earth, the Antichrist will be destroyed and cast into the Lake of Fire, as described in Daniel 7:11:
“I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast” (the Antichrist) “was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.”
These verses refer to the final beast (kingdom or nation) in Daniel 7’s prophecy and its leader who will be defeated at the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
The Key Verse: In Daniel 7:12, we learn what happens to the other nations symbolized by the first three beasts in the prophecy: “As concerning the rest of the beasts” (nations), “they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.”
This means that when the Antichrist is destroyed, the other nations will lose their power but they will continue to exist during the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ.
In summary, all the nations depicted in Daniel 7’s prophecy will be present on Earth at the time of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming.
Do These Nations Exist on Earth Today?
If the nations described in the Daniel 7 prophecy are present on the Earth today, then it is clear we are living in the era leading up to the promised return of Jesus.
Can we confirm these nations exist today? Yes, we can.
The Lion
The first beast in the prophecy is described in Daniel 7:4: “The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.”
Today there is a prominent nation whose official symbol is the lion. According to Webster’s Third International Dictionary, the lion is “a symbol of a country … Great Britain.”
At Trafalgar Square in London, you can find four massive lions facing in all directions —north, south, east and west. God chose the lion to symbolize Great Britain because He knew it would be recognized as her national emblem at the time of the prophecy’s fulfillment.
The Bear
The bear is widely recognized as a national symbol of Russia. For instance, the Associated Press ran an article titled “Putin: West wants to defang, declaw Russian bear” on Dec. 18, 2014. Russia Beyond featured the piece, “The Bear vs the Lion: 5 times Russia and Britain were on the brink of war” on Jan. 15, 2019. The Eurasia Review published “Russian Bear Can Still Roar And Claw At Global Order But Lacks Any Power To Change It” on Dec. 26, 2020. Additionally, The New York Times covered the topic in their article, “With Military Attacks and Mockery, Ukraine Pokes the Russian Bear” on April 26, 2022.
For decades, the bear has also appeared in satirical cartoons representing Russia. The country’s Tu-95 “Bear” Strategic Intercontinental Bomber, which first flew in 1954 and entered service in 1956, further reinforces this iconic association.
The Eagle
Returning to Daniel 7:4, the passage describes the lion as having eagle’s wings. Today there is a major nation whose symbol is the eagle — the United States. The eagle is prominently featured on the back of the U.S. dollar bill, and it can be seen displayed in many government buildings across the country. Although it has served as the national symbol for nearly 250 years, the federal government had never formally recognized it. That changed on Dec. 24, 2023, when President Biden signed S.4610 into law, officially designating the bald eagle as the national bird of the United States.
Isn’t it fascinating that the eagle is depicted as growing out of the lion? Where did America come from? It emerged from its mother country — Great Britain, the lion. The fact that this prophecy with such remarkable details was given in 550 B.C. — over 2,300 years before the United States even existed — is truly astonishing!
The Declaration of Independence
In Daniel 7:4, after describing the eagle’s wings emerging from the lion, the passage reveals two more significant details. Daniel says, “ … I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.”
Daniel witnessed the separation of the eagle’s wings from the lion.
He saw the Declaration of Independence long before it ever took place — over 2,300 years ahead of time!
While reviewing the book, “The Lion and the Eagle: The Interaction of the British and American Empires 1783–1972,” Francis P. Sempa writes:
“When the United States succeeded in breaking away from the British Empire in 1783, its leaders were not shy in declaring that America would be, in Thomas Jefferson’s words, an “empire of liberty.” America’s Founding Fathers recognized that throughout history the world’s leading powers were empires.”[i]
That’s not all! Daniel also saw another symbol describing the United States. He noted the eagle was made to stand on its feet like a man and that a man’s heart was given to it. What could this represent? The United States has two prominent symbols: the eagle and Uncle Sam. God used both to symbolize America and all of this has been embedded in the Bible’s prophecies since 550 B.C.!
The Leopard
Webster’s Online Dictionary with Multilingual Translation states:
“The leopard is also the unofficial national animal of Nazi Germany, replacing the Tiger, which was, along with the eagle, the national animal of Nazi Germany.” Germany’s Leopard Tank is the world’s number one tank today.
In Bible prophecy, a beast typically symbolizes a nation and its ruler. Multiple heads on a beast represent the different times that nation will rise and fall. The four heads on the leopard represent Germany’s historical and future phases: the First Reich, the Second Reich, Hitler’s Third Reich and the Fourth Reich which is currently emerging. The leopard symbolizes Germany.
Before we get to the 4th beast, I want to interject one last piece of evidence for these animal symbols:
- According to www.navalencyclopedia.com, the British “ … Lion was the world’s first ‘super battlecruiser’… ”[ii]
- America has the F-15EX Eagle II Fighter.
- Russia has the Tu-95 “Bear” Strategic Intercontinental Bomber.
- Germany has the Leopard Battle Tank.
The 10-Horned Beast
In the prophecy of Daniel 7, the 10 horns on the final beast symbolize 10 kings who will form an alliance in the end times (see verse 24). Other prophecies confirm that this 10-nation alliance will rise from Europe and serve as the power base for the Antichrist. This coalition of nations will mark the revival of the Holy Roman Empire.
The Holy Roman Empire was originally established on Christmas Day in 800 A.D. when Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne declaring him emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. The empire ruled over Europe for the next 1,000 years until Francis II, the last Holy Roman Emperor, abdicated after being defeated by Napoleon’s forces. On August 6, 1806, the Holy Roman Empire was officially dissolved.
Yet we have seen the resurgence of the Holy Roman Empire in modern times.
On Nov. 3, 2009, 27 nations signed the Lisbon Treaty, Europe’s first constitution, forming the European Union — effectively creating a “United States of Europe.”
Is the European Union truly the rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire? There are four key reasons to believe this:
- The first coin minted by the European Union features an image of Charlemagne, the founder of the Holy Roman Empire.
- The Economist, Europe’s most influential publication, has a weekly section dedicated to European unification called “The Charlemagne Page.”
- Each year, a $1 million prize is awarded to the statesperson who has done the most to advance European unification. It’s called the Charlemagne Prize.
- In Brussels, Belgium, the capital of the European Union, there is a building where nations apply for EU membership. This building is named the Charlemagne Building.
Why is it so important to recognize the European Union as the revival of the Holy Roman Empire? Because the Bible clearly prophesies that the Antichrist and his religious counterpart, the False Prophet, will arise from this revived empire.

What does Prophecy Foretell for the Future of the US?
Another prophecy in the Bible speaks about the nations that will be present on Earth at the time of Jesus’ Second Coming. This prophecy was given about 650 years after the one in Daniel 7 and remarkably, the same symbols were used to represent the nations.
Revelation 13:1-2 in the New Testament records this prophecy:
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”
In Daniel 7, the nations are depicted as four separate beasts. However, in Revelation 13, these nations are merged into a single beast. This suggests that the powers seen in Daniel 7 will combine to form a global system of governance in the end times. We can already observe this process unfolding with the rise of terms like the World Community, the International Community, the New World Order and the developing global government.
Notice that all the symbols from Daniel 7 are included in the composite beast of Revelation 13 — except for one. The body of the leopard (Germany), the feet of the bear (Russia), the mouth of the lion (Great Britain) and the 10 horns of the 10-horned kingdom (the European Union) are all present in the prophecy of the end time one-world government. Even the seven heads of Daniel 7 are represented in the Revelation 13 beast. The only symbol missing is the eagle’s wings (representing the United States).
However, Revelation 12:14 offers an intriguing clue about this absence:
“And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.”
This passage suggests the United States, symbolized by the eagle’s wings, will have a unique role to play during the end times, separate from the merging of the other nations into a single global power.
What Happens to the Eagle?
Does the absence of the eagle’s wings from the end time world government suggest the United States will oppose the Antichrist’s global system? Are there any other prophecies that shed light on the role the U.S. will play just before the Second Coming of Jesus? Revelation 12:13-14 makes a significant reference to the eagle’s wings:
“And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.”
This chapter begins by describing a woman with 12 stars around her head. The woman symbolizes Israel and the 12 stars represent the 12 tribes of Israel. The woman gives birth to a child — the Messiah — whom Satan attempts to devour at birth. However, the child is caught up to God and His throne.
The remainder of the chapter beginning in verse 6 describes events that will unfold during the final 3 ½ years before the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Jesus. In verse 7, Satan’s last attempt to overthrow God is depicted followed by his confinement to the Earth.
Satan then wages war against Israel (the woman). This period is commonly referred to in Scripture as the Great Tribulation. But Israel will be protected during this time by “the wings of a great eagle.”
What is striking about this prophecy given 2,000 years ago is that today the United States — “the eagle” is Israel’s greatest ally. The U.S. cast the decisive vote in the U.N. on Nov. 29, 1947, to establish the modern State of Israel. We were also the first nation to recognize Israel’s Declaration of Independence on May 14,1948. Additionally, the U.S. has used its veto power 49 times since 1972 to block harmful resolutions in the U.N. that targeted Israel.
The prophecy states Israel will be protected “in her place” by the eagle. Where is Israel’s place? It is the Promised Land God promised to Abraham 4,000 years ago (see Genesis 15:18). The prophecy further specifies that Israel will be protected for “a time, and times, and half a time.” This phrase used throughout Bible prophecy refers to 3 ½ years — the length of the Great Tribulation (Revelation 13:5). This period is described as lasting 42 months.
Given that the United States is not part of the world government depicted in the Antichrist’s end time regime and is shown in prophecy as defending Israel against the Antichrist’s efforts to destroy her, we can conclude America will resist and oppose the Antichrist and his one-world government.
In 2021, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) officially took over responsibility for the U.S. military’s relationship with Israel, replacing the European Command (EUCOM).
“The realignment, announced by the [US] Defense Department in January, strengthens the strategic U.S.-Israeli defense relationship and offers opportunities to deepen operational collaboration between the Israel Defense Forces and CENTCOM’s many partners in the region,” CENTCOM said in a statement.[iii]
Furthermore, we can be certain Israel will not fall under the power of the Antichrist during the entirety of the Great Tribulation. This is confirmed in Zechariah 14:2 which prophesies all nations (likely represented by the U.N.) will come against Jerusalem at the end of the Great Tribulation. This foretells the invasion of Israel during the Battle of Armageddon — and you do not invade a place you already control.
Jordan will Never be Controlled by the Antichrist
Daniel 11:41 provides insight into the Antichrist’s actions: “He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.”
Edom refers to the southern part of modern-day Jordan, particularly the area known as Petra. Moab encompasses the central region of Jordan, while Ammon is the area around the capital, Amman. The people of Amman are still called Ammonites to this day. According to Daniel 11:41, the prophecy indicates Jordan will be spared from the Antichrist’s control.
What can We Conclude?
Israel and Jordan will not fall under the control of the Antichrist and his one-world government. Both nations are key allies of the United States in the Middle East. The United States has consistently provided the Kingdom of Jordan with military aid since 1957, making the United States’ partnership with Jordan one of the most enduring in the region.[iv] Israel and Jordan signed a peace agreement on Oct. 26, 1994. Jordan was designated a U.S. major non-NATO ally by the United States in 1996.[v] In 2021, Jordan announced a defense agreement with the United States that permits the unrestricted entry of U.S. forces, aircraft and vehicles into the kingdom’s territory.[vi] In April 2024, the United States, Israel and Jordan all intercepted many of the 300 Iranian drones and missiles fired directly toward Israel.[vii] Furthermore, we know the United States, Israel’s strongest ally on Earth, will continue to support and defend Israel throughout the entire duration of the Great Tribulation.
It’s important to remember that Revelation 13 also indicates the absence of the eagle (representing the United States) from the prophecy of the Antichrist’s global government system. This suggests that the U.S. will not be part of the end time one-world power.
America’s Prophesied Future
In 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain launched the Spanish Inquisition, issuing a decree that required every person in Spain to be baptized as Catholics or leave the country within four months. This was devastating news for the approximately 400,000 Jews living in Spain at the time. Many were forced to sell their homes, businesses and belongings and around 50,000 of them yielded to the pressure and were baptized as Catholics.
That same year, Christopher Columbus set sail on his historic journey to discover a new world. Some believe that Columbus was secretly Jewish and was seeking a new homeland for the hundreds of thousands of Jews being expelled by the harsh decree of Ferdinand and Isabella.
If this was indeed Columbus’ motivation, he succeeded beyond what anyone could have imagined. Today, the United States has the second-largest Jewish population in the world following Israel.
Currently, the Jewish population in the U.S. stands at 6.3 million, while Israel has 7.3 million. The rest of the world combined has about 2.2 million Jews.
Does America have a divine purpose? Without a doubt! God has ordained this nation not only to protect Israel since its rebirth in 1948 but also to stand by her in the challenging times that lie ahead.
